INTRODUCTION
TO SPEECH COMMUNICATION ARTS
6th
July 2002
The
ability to speak internationally acceptable English is a required
outcome of the Singapore English Language Syllabuses for all levels
from Pre-school to Tertiary (2001).
This
introductory course will offer information, demonstrations, and
hands-on practice in basic skills and competencies required by internationally
recognised examining boards currently operating in Singapore.
The
4hr course will start from nursery level and work upwards towards
teacher level, and show how these skills and outcomes link to the
oral components of the three main strands of the new Singapore English
Language Syllabus - using language for information, for literary
appreciation and expression, and for social interaction.
Administrators,
teachers, trainers, parents, specialists and senior students will
be given guidance on the relevance, quality, value, depth, and range
of certificates and diplomas in the area of speech communication
education.
